While my research focus has been on place-based media, that does not mean I am only interested in media originating in a particular location. As part of the Kanaka module, for example, we have brought into the story pieces of information from afar that could help the user of the app get a better sense of the time period, including work by Poe, Dickens, and Thomas Nast, as well as historical accounts of Lincoln's assassination, the sinking of the Sultana, and reporting of the first "base ball" game.
